It’s like Confucius once famously said, “You can’t party like a rock star 24/7, chief.” Well, plenty of Vegas visitors might actively dispute that, but the point is, if you desire a break from the nightlife and poker tables, Las Vegas has plenty to offer, from scenic beauty to some supremely ballsy bungee jumping to six-figure sports cars waiting for you take for a spin.
1. Dream Racing
Burn rubber almost as fast as you burn through your disposable income at the Dream Racing experience at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a 1.5 mile oval track on the Nascar circuit. With over three-dozen rides available, from street-legal Lamborghini, Ferrari and Porsche supercars — to name but a few — to actual race cars, there’s a bevy of options and combo packages available. There’s also ride-along experiences as well if you want to satiate that need for speed without actually getting behind the wheel.
2. Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour
Las Vegas may be best known for its indoor opulence, but its outdoor surroundings are just as visually stunning. From the painted desert at its doorstep to nearby Lake Mead with its architectural marvel the Hoover Dam to one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World in the Grand Canyon in neighboring Arizona, there’s an abundance of scenic beauty to be had. See it all in panoramic fashion during a four-hour, round-trip helicopter ride from Maverick Aviation Group. You’ll get picked up by limousine coach at your hotel and then treated to in-flight champagne and snacks during a trip that concludes with fly-overs of Downtown Las Vegas and The Strip, man-made wonders juxtaposed with those of nature’s creation.
3. High Roller
The world’s tallest observation wheel towering 550 feet above The Strip at The Linq, the High Roller provides a bird’s eye view of The Strip inside one of 28 cabins that hold 40 people each. It takes a half-an-hour for one revolution, enabling passengers to soak in the scenery. And if heights make you a bit squeamish, you can soothe those jangled nerves by booking an open bar cabin complete with your own mixologist.
4. Slotzilla Zipline
A few of the yard-long souvenir cocktails peddled downtown will make anyone feel like a superhero, but now you can fly like one for real at the Slotzilla Zipline beneath the Fremont Street Experience canopy. There are two options: Ride seated for two blocks on the seven-story-high zipline, or go Superman-style for five blocks on the 90-foot-high zoomline. Either way, try not to ralph on the revelers below, OK? (Yes, it happens.).
The thing holds a Guinness World Record as “the highest commercial decelerator descent facility.” Uh, yeah, what does that mean exactly? That you might want to bring a spare of undies upon braving Skyjump, where you’ll take an open air leap over 800 feet above the street from the top of The Strat skypod. Courageous types will reach top speeds of 40 mph as they plunge towards The Strip below. Seriously, we can hear your screams from here.
