Hello London,

This has to be one of the hardest weeks to shortlist. There are far too many good options. But let’s be honest, if you’re not going to Notting Hill Carnival this weekend, what are you even doing?

So this week, I’ve pulled together a Carnival-heavy list of parties and afters, plus a solid selection of community and free events if your wallet needs a breather.

So here’s the plan… start early on Wednesday with the Denham Audio and L-Vis 1990 launch party at Next Door Records. On Thursday, there’s a book launch for A Hitchhiker’s Guide to Acid House, which should be interesting. But if you’re here purely for music, head to the pwrSystm anniversary for bass and techno, or keep it classy at 17 Little Portland Street with some minimal house.

On Friday, DJ Stingray 313 headlines the Alien Communications anniversary at FOLD, while the Night Slugs and Einhundert party at Ormside Projects is looking seriously stacked too.

Saturday gives you plenty to choose from: day parties, night parties and outdoor sessions. My picks are DAYTIMERS, PARAVIBE and Half Baked.

Sunday should be reserved for Notting Hill Carnival. The only acceptable alternatives are Body Movements Festival at Southwark Park, or the 33-hour UNFOLD if you’re feeling brave.

And if you’ve still got steam left by Monday, choose between EXTENDED at Starlane or Art of Dark at Colour Factory.
