Hello London,

The bank holiday is finally here, and the weather isn’t looking too bad, which can only mean one thing: day raves, afters, and a steady intake of electrolytes (#IYKYK). Since we’ve already covered some of the bigger parties in previous editions (April Highlights and Bank Holiday Signups), this week we’re going back to basics. Think secret venues, free parties, afters, BYOBs, and tickets that won’t rinse your bank account.

For the first time, we’re introducing a Venue of the Month, and it’s The Carpet Shop, just a short walk from Peckham Rye. Yes, it’s a bit of a trek if you’re north of the river, but it’s absolutely worth it. The sound system is banging, the programming is top notch, and its managed by the team behind Corsica Studios.

The Carpet Shop, Peckham Rye

With a 250 capacity, it’s far more intimate than Corsica, and the 6am licence doesn’t hurt either. This bank holiday weekend alone, you’ve got some bass heavy nights starting with Buss with Bambi, Yushh & Meku on Thursday, Dusty Dan ‘n’ Pals on Friday, Sister Midnight FM on Saturday, and Eglo Records on Sunday bringing deeper, jazz-leaning sounds. Looking ahead, April is stacked with names like Cormac, George Fitzgerald and Surusinghe, so if you’ve been meaning to check it out, now’s the time.

As for the rest of the weekend, you’re covered from Thursday evening all the way through to Monday morning. Too many good options to single out, but trust me, there’s something for every one.
