Hello London,

Last weekend, after London Pride, I somehow ended up at a forest rave deep in North London. And honestly, it was transformative.

The music kept shifting, the DJs were properly taking risks, and the whole thing reminded me why going slightly off-grid is almost always worth it. I’m not allowed to say where it was, but I have dug deep to find a few other forest raves and secret venues that are absolutely worth the trek.

This Friday leans heavy, filthy and bass-first. Flowdan takes over Phonox, Manuka Honey at Ormside Projects, and Roni Size goes all night long at Night Tales. Meanwhile, Tim Reaper headlines CU in Dalston for a free, vinyl-only affair.

On Saturday, Aussie legend Fisher lands at Silverworks Island, while Rhadoo goes all night long at MOT with deep, minimal sounds. Night Slugs take over Palais, with Bok Bok and Ikonika among the names on the bill. For something more experimental, head south to IKLECTIK, who are celebrating their 12th anniversary at their new home in Peckham Levels.

On Sunday, Nicolas Jaar brings his band Darkside to EartH for two shows in one day, while Giant Steps returns to The Bath House with Jon K and Dean Bryce spinning an eclectic mix of vinyl all day long. For something with a queer-femme techno touch, head to newly opened ‘radial’ for Soft Domination’s third party.
