Hello London,

This week leans darker, weirder and a bit more heads-down. But before we get into the picks, we’ve got three new reads live on the site: one on why more people should try solo raving at least once, another on John Summit and the rise of the performative DJ, and a third asking whether the UK music scene is failing female DJs.

As for the week itself, it starts strong. Wednesday and Thursday bring AlgoRhythms at The Carpet Shop for live-coded electronics, a free session from Shogun Audio at Number 90, plus Hospital Records at XOYO if jungle and D’n’B is more your speed.

Friday is where it properly opens up: DJ Stingray 313, Jensen Interceptor and Yazzus at Palais is probably one of the strongest line-ups of the week if you want things fast and electro-leaning, while dubstep label DEEP MEDi start their 4-Friday residency at Phonox with an unannounced line-up and Bobby Beethoven at MOT have the hardcore, experimental heads covered.

Saturday, Kode9 lands at FOLD with Client_03 for an exploration of all things bass, while Kangding Ray at IKLECTIC offers something more immersive, experimental and inward-looking. For something lighter, Dimitri From Paris brings a more classic disco-house energy to Freight Brixton

Sunday softens slightly with Osunlade at The Carpet Shop playing some deep cuts of Prince’s music, Bekefi and friends at Vittoria Wharf, if you’re up for some acid-tinged house. Plus, I’ve also compiled a list of not-to-miss events for June below, so consider that your warning to start getting your life in order now.
